Vermont Farmhouse

A Boston family searched in vain for an old Vermont farmhouse to renovate. Eventually, they asked us to help them design their own. So, we wrote a story about several generations of Vermont farmers

There is no farm without a barn, so a real timber-frame barn was central to the design.

Every farm has a silo and this one became the main stairwell with a writers’ retreat at the top.

Casual and comfortable are the DNA of all old farmhouses and certainly the qualities sought by our clients.

Tucked off the east end of a commodious porch, the hot tub brings modern comfort that can’t be seen from the approaching drive or gardens.

Adjacent to the first-floor master suite, a hot tub gazebo brings modern comfort without disrupting the old farmhouse vibe.
